  • George Lucas

    George Lucas - Chairman

    George Lucas was Managing Director of the Corus Steel plc operations in Ireland formerly Gamble Simms Steel Ltd from 1986-2006.  During this time he was instrumental in developing and implementing key business strategies that not only brought strong growth and financial returns but also a significant reduction in accident rates.

    Upon his retirement he worked for a three-year period as a strategy development consultant with Corus Steel plc (acquired by Tata Steel in 2006) across Great Britain and Ireland.  Mr Lucas holds a MSc in Management from Trinity College/Irish Management Institute, Dublin.

    Mr Lucas is an Irish international tennis player at veteran level, and currently president of Ulster tennis.

  • Stephanie Lowry

    Stephanie Lowry - Deputy Chairperson

    Stephanie Lowry has been an Independent Assessor with the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments since January 2005. She is also an Independent Board Member with the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure. Previously she worked as Head of Retail Operations and as Financial Manager for Marks Spencer Plc, Northern Ireland.

    Stephanie was appointed Deputy Chairperson of the HSENI Board with effect from 1 October 2008.

  • Gerard Campbell

    Gerard Campbell - Board Member

    Gerard Campbell has been the Chief Executive of Colleges in Northern Ireland since July 2011. Prior to that, he was the Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People (NICCY) between 2008 and 2011.  Between 2002 and 2008, Mr Campbell was the Director of Corporate Services for the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC).

    He currently is a non-executive director on the Board of Extern and Chair of its Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee (since 2008), and is the Chair of the Board of Governors of St Joseph’s Primary School, Antrim.  Previously, Mr Campbell was a trustee and Chair of the Belfast branch of the Citizens Advice Bureau between 2008 and 2011.

  • Crosby Cleland

    Crosby Cleland - Board Member

    Crosby Cleland has been a self-employed farmer in Co Down for some 40 years, and owner/manager of a small agricultural fencing/contracting business for 30 years.  He is a Board member of the Ulster Farmers Union (UFU), and Chair of the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society (RUAS) Works Committee and King’s Hall Finance Committee.

  • James Collins

    James Collins - Board Member

    James Collins retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1998 after 32 years with the company ten of these years as a General Manager of its Belfast operation. He has held a number of public appointments including IRTU, LRA, and the BELB. He is currently a council member of the Curriculum Examinations and Assessment Council, a board member of Enterprise Ulster, and a member of the Fair Employment Tribunals. He is also a council member on the N.I. Chest Heart and Stroke, chairman of a community development organisation ORTUS and chairman of Manufacturing Technology Partnership Ltd.

  • Lyn Fawcett

    Lyn Fawcett - Board Member

    Lyn Fawcett has been a Senior Lecturer in Hotel Management at the University of Ulster for some 20 years.  He is a Board member of the University’s Governing Council and Chair of the NI Higher Education Committee of the University and Colleges Union.  He is also senior partner in a privately owned self-catering property company. Mr Fawcett also has experience of public service, having been a Board member of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) for 5 years (2003-2008).

  • Pat Lyons

    Pat Lyons - Board Member

    Pat Lyons has 34 years of service in the extractive industry throughout Ireland working for the Tarmac Group, and served as General Manager for Northern Ireland until March 2010 when he took early retirement from the company. During his period in the extractive industry he was an executive member of the Quarry Products Association for Northern Ireland, and it’s Chairman during 2009/2010. He is a fellow of the Institute of Quarrying, a Chartered Member of IOSH, and a member of the NISG. He is currently a self employed business consultant.  

  • Brendan Mackin

    Brendan Mackin - Board Member

    Brendan Mackin has been the Director of Northern Ireland’s Trade Union Educational & Social Centre (NITU) for over 22 years.  He also has over 10 years experience serving on a wide range and variety of Boards.  He currently serves on INTERREG’s Monitoring Committee, the EU BSP Monitoring Committee, BLSP, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and the Fair Employment Tribunals.

  • Brenda Maitland

    Brenda Maitland - Board Member

    Brenda Maitland is currently Honorary Secretary and a member of the Management Council for War on Want NI.  Up until 2005 she worked for 10 years for BT’s Senior Management Team in the area of Human Resources.   She has also experience of public appointments having sat as a non-executive Director on the Board of Ulster Supported Employment Ltd.  She has also held various positions in the voluntary and community sector.
