Certain types of work-related accidents must be reported (download the Reporting Accidents Leaflet for more information). Fatal and major accidents must be reported immediately (eg. by telephone), and a completed accident report form (NI2508) should be sent to the relevant enforcing authority within ten days for all reportable accidents. If something happens which does not result is a reportable injury, but which clearly could have done, then it may be a dangerous occurrence which must be reported immediately (e.g. by telephone) and also followed with a completed NI2508.
