Consultation description

This consultative document sets out proposals from HSENI to approve for use in Northern Ireland an updated Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) on  “Safety in the Installation and Use of Gas Systems and Appliances” (L56) published by the Health and Safety Executive in Great Britain.

The ACOP and guidance gives practical advice on the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations. It is relevant to a wide range of people, from those installing, servicing, maintaining or repairing gas appliances and other gas fittings, to suppliers and users of gas, including some landlords.

The revised ACOP also includes guidance and ACOP on standards of training in safe gas installation.

As a result it is also proposed that the Approved Code of Practice ‘76 HSA 95’ “Standards of training in safe gas installation” will be withdrawn.
