The fatal accident rate in businesses with fewer than 50 employees is around twice that of larger companies.  It is estimated that work-related injuries, ill-health and non-injury accidents cost the Northern Ireland economy around £250m per year.

Implementing health and safety measures does not have to be expensive, time consuming or complicated, in fact, safer and more efficient working practices can often save money but, more importantly, they can help save lives.  

This section is aimed at employers of small to medium sized businesses and makes use of templates and worked examples.  It also provides information on the essential health and safety basics which should be implemented.
