HSENI Safety Alert – Product Recall for SIP Fireball ID78 23 kW Diesel Infra-red Heater presenting a risk of fire

Introduction
HSENI have received a Product Recall for SIP Industrial Products Fireball ID78 23 kW Diesel Infra-red Heater (2503-0026). The product has been recalled by the manufacturer due to presenting a risk of fire.
Issue
The product has been recalled because it is possible that over fuelling of the combustion chamber of the heater may occur, leading to a chamber temperature beyond intended design parameters. This over fuelling leads to flames extending through the front radiation plate, and during prolonged use, the front radiation plate may be subject to thermal fatigue leading to embrittlement and failure of the radiation plate. The failure of this plate exposes the interior of the combustion chamber and ultimately leads to an open flame and hot material potentially discarded on the ground in front of the unit.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
