HSENI to highlight need for healthier workplaces at Balmoral Show
Date published:
HSENI is encouraging visitors to drop by their stand at the Balmoral Show next week and learn more about their healthier workplaces campaign.

Experts will be on hand to give advice on making work, whether it’s a factory or farm, a healthier place with a focus on four key areas: stress, lung health, musculoskeletal issues, and occupational cancers.
Deputy Chief Executive of HSENI, Bryan Monson, said that while all workplaces carry health risks the farming community is particularly vulnerable to work-related health issues.
“Farming is one of our most important industries, but it is also one of the most demanding of jobs and carries with it significant long-term health risks. Farmers are facing chronic stress, prolonged exposure to sunlight and chemicals, contact with gases and fumes, and the physical demands of the handling heavy machinery or animals,” he said.
“So, it is no surprise they are at greater risk of breathing difficulties, back problems, stress and certain cancers, all of which can have a devastating impact, not only on individual farmers but on their families and the wider agricultural sector.
“These issues are preventable. You can do something to protect yourself and your workers. So, we are urging everyone involved in farming to take a few minutes next week to visit our stand at the Balmoral Show where we can help people recognise the risks and take steps to protect themselves. Your health matters - come and talk to us about protecting it," Bryan added.
HSENI will be at stand EK92 in the Eikon Centre from Wednesday 14th to Saturday 17th May at the Eikon Exhibition Centre, Lisburn. Visitors will be able to access expert advice, health-focused resources and practical guidance on how to manage and reduce exposure to these risks.
