HSENI has launched a new consultation containing proposals for the Freight Containers (Safety Convention) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2018.

The consultation document sets out proposals to replace the Freight Containers (Safety Convention) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1992 in order to give effect to amendments to the International Convention for Safe Containers 1972.

The proposed Regulations will replace the Freight Containers (Safety Convention) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1992 (“the 1992 Regulations”) in order to give effect to amendments to the International Convention for Safe Containers 1972 (CSC) in Northern Ireland. The UK ratified the CSC, an international treaty, in 1978 and is therefore bound by its terms in accordance with international law.
