Consultation description

This consultative document sets out proposals from HSENI to approve for use in Northern Ireland an updated Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) on Legionnaire’s Disease: “The control of legionella bacteria in water systems”, published by the Health and Safety Executive in Great Britain.

The ACOP is principally relevant to dutyholders, including employers and those in control of premises (i.e. landlords) where the risk of exposure to legionella bacteria may occur.

The ACOP also sets out the responsibilities of suppliers of services such as water treatment and maintenance companies; and manufacturers, importers, suppliers and installers of such systems.
